The Department is organised by Lorraine - 0208 457 4140 and Sheila - 0208 457 4141 who coordinate all of the administrative work necessary to ensure that reps are allocated, invited and processed on the basic regional courses, including any specialist briefings.

Carol is the Regional Education Officer with responsibility for the overall department, and is involved in the provision of training, updating and devising course materials, as well as maintaining the website. The John Cope Trust (an education sponsorship fund) is also part of Carol’s remit. Details of both the CD and Trust are set out on their respective web pages.
Jenny Webber is our Training & Development Officer who works from our Norwich Office and is responsible for specialist workplace training, bidding for funds from sources such as the Union Learning Fund, developing our Learning Reps network, some basic training provision and supervising our Project Workers. For more information on Jenny’s work, click here.

Bob Hayes
Bob Hayes is one of our freelance tutors, teaching labour relations courses at venues across the Region. He also works with education department colleagues in developing new training courses. He is particularly interested in skills development for union representatives, such as negotiating skills and public speaking training.

Simon is our Regional Health & Safety Officer and tutors the 5 Day Health & Safety and 2 Day Safety Inspection courses. He also provides regular bulletins on new developments/changes in health and safety as well as undertaking research on issues raised in the region.

All GMB tutors have many years experience as trade union activists and hold relevant teaching qualifications.
