GMB - Britain’s General Union

The London Region of the GMB offers a variety of courses to it's members. These are provided within the Region at one of 6 union venues.

Below is a list of the courses offered as basic training for GMB Representatives.

BASIC TRAINING FOR NEW GMB REPS

The Basic Training for GMB representatives consists of a 22 day programme split into seven modules; 3 day introductory, 5 day follow-on, 5 day Health & Safety, 2 Day Put it in Writing, 3 day Negotiation Skills, 2 Day Say Your Piece - Verbal Communication Skills and 2 day Health & Safety Inspection course.

All new representatives are automatically invited to attend the basic training as soon as the Education Department is notified of their election. The courses run throughout the year at 6 main venues within the Region. They are designed to be informative, yet enjoyable and aim to build the representative's confidence and ability in the basic skills needed to undertake their trade union roles. Travelling and other expenses will be paid by the Region.
