WORKPLACE LEARNING PROJECTS

Are You Interested In Learning at Work?
Brushing Up On Skills?
Applying for College To Get New Qualifications?
Getting New Skills To Pursue A Hobby?
Improving Your English or Writing Skills?

GMB London Region has been working with employers to set up workplace learning and personal development projects. We aim to raise the funding, help with finding suitable education providers and negotiate the time off needed for courses. We have project workers in London and Norfolk who can help set up specific workplace projects.

Here are some of the programmes we have offered:

tnd1 English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

English lessons during working hours have been available in a number of different companies. These range from basic introductory courses (including writing / alphabet and speaking) to more advanced, with a qualification. It is also possible to do a guided open learning course, where you work at home with a CD-ROM and a tutor is available to mark work and advise you.

Writing and study skills

Many of us left school without qualifications, or a long time ago, and have become rusty and nervous about writing. These courses are designed to help build your confidence with written material or help you get the practice in writing and compiling portfolios so that you can continue with further study. Many jobs now require report writing and letter writing – these courses can help you with these or help you develop your own interests or gain a qualification (NVQ etc.)

Computers and ICT

Likewise, computers can be a baffling mystery and we can feel left behind by our children or unable to apply for promotion or other jobs, without a basic knowledge of computers. We can help arrange courses for members, whether at a basic or more advanced level.

Vocational courses / NVQs / Modern Apprenticeships

We can offer advice and assistance to members who are interested in pursuing any of these or in introducing them to their workplace.
